Ng’ona Lodge

Ng’ona Lodge is an oasis in the African bush. It is in a tranquil environment on the banks of the Shire River which flows out of Lake Malawi, south to join the Zambezi River in Mozambique. The lodge is approximately 70 kilometres south west of Blantyre. Ng’ona Lodge is owned and managed by Monika Steidl, an Austrian national who has been resident in Malawi since 1992. She came to Malawi, with her late husband, Gerhard, to work with a solar engineering company. Like many other foreigners, they were welcomed, found happiness and never left.

We have four chalets ranging from 2-4 occupants per chalet. All our chalets have a shower & toilet, tea & coffee facilities, fridge, mosquito nets as standard, two powerful rotating fans for the warmer months, and a big shady verandah for your private use.

Camp within our grounds, and make use of our own built braai (barbecue) / grill. Campers are welcome to bring their own food to cook on the braais, or you can join us in our restaurant for meals. Toilet / shower facilities are in the main building.

Most resident guests visit Majete Game Reserve during their stay, only one and a half kilometres away. We can arrange game drives in the reserve for Ng’ona residents. You can self-drive, subject to African Parks’ regulations, or you can choose to be driven in a specialist safari vehicle with a guide.
