Located a short 20 minute drive to the south-west of Blantyre with magnificent views over the Great Rift Valley and Shire river is Fisherman’s Rest.  A Nature Reserve, Lodge and community development centre.  The reserve supports indigenous antelope in 50 acres of private woodland within which the accommodation and swimming pool is situated. Accommodation ranges from ensuite rooms to ideal group travel cottages and local style huts.

The nature reserve is accessed by foot only and is accessible to guests from sunrise to sunset. It is filled with indigenous trees and its tranquil atmosphere offers a wonderfully peaceful retreat from the stresses of twenty-first century life. The wildlife includes impala, nyala, duiker and other species.

At Fisherman’s Rest the opportunities to engage with local communities and people are endless.  The lodge and linked registered Malawi charity supports projects in 22 schools and two districts. Join the fun of singing with children, reading in local libraries and being a part of life changing projects.
