Dzalanyama Forest Lodge

Dzalanyama Forest Lodge has 4 bedrooms, 2 en-suite tented chalets, a large lounge / dining area with a fireplace and there is a gas freezer / fridge. The front deck is the perfect place to enjoy al fresco lunches and appreciate the serenity of the area. Lighting is provided by gas lamps and solar lamps. The lodge is self catering and guests are required to provide their own food supplies, which will be prepared by the resident cook.

The lodge overlooks the Makata Stream, set amongst brachystegia trees, which attract a wide variety of birds and butterflies that frequent this habitat. It is the ideal retreat from which to enjoy bird watching, walking, hiking or to simply sit on the verandah and enjoy the solitude of the surrounding forest. Hyena, leopard and a small group of sable antelope have been sighted along with the regular sightings of baboon and duiker.

Dzalanyama, (situated 60 km (37 miles) southwest of Lilongwe), is a range of steep sided hills running NW – SE for 70 km (45 miles) forming a border which runs between Malawi and Mozambique.

Transfers from Lilongwe and full catering can be arranged. Children are welcome.

All guests staying at the house have the opportunity to participate in the Dzalanyama school project if they are so inclined.

An eco-friendly campsite is also under way.

Dzalanyama Forest Lodge is run by Land and Lake Safaris who also offer tours, safaris and excursions.
