Chelinda Camp is situated on the rolling highlands of Nyika National Park, one of Africa’s most iconic wilderness areas. The camp offers a comfortable and memorable stay in Nyika, an area which was featured extensively in Laurens van der Post’s Venture to the Interior.

Accommodation at the camp includes four chalets, which have two double bedrooms each, a dining area, a small kitchen and a bathroom, which includes both a bathtub and shower. An additional six twin-bedded suites are also available and are located opposite a crystal clear dam. Wholesome and rustic meals are served in a cosy dining area, which is equipped with its own fireplace. The camp is ideal for families with children, school groups and travellers seeking a comfortable and affordable stay on the plateau.

The Nyika Plateau’s montane grasslands rise 8000ft/ 2400m above sea level, and are home to zebra, countless antelope (including roan, reedbuck and eland), hyena and elephant as well as nearly 400 species of birds. Nyika is also renowned for legendary leopard sightings and many guests have had the opportunity to observe these majestic cats thriving in their natural environment. During the early months of the green season (from January to March), over 200 orchids bloom, adding a carpet of colour to the grasslands. Activities available at the camp include game drives, guided walks, mountain biking, birding, fly fishing and the popular Livingstonia Trail. Guests can also visit a nearby school and meet local community members during their stay.
